Part 7 – Find a Food Hygiene CoursePosted 09/05/2014 by CakeBaker
Find a Food Hygiene Course
To meet the requirements of EU Regulation 852/2004, you will need to pass the Basic Food Hygiene certificate Level 2. It’s available online from about £15 and will take you 2-3 hours to complete. Note: for home bakers who sell occasionally through fetes and fairs, the certificate isn’t essential – in 2013 the Food Standards Agency declared that cakes made for community events are exempt from the rules.
Meet your Legal Obligation!
One of the best courses that covers everything you need to know is the Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 for Catering which is City & Guilds accredited.
This module is a self study course aimed at anyone working in catering or hospitality whether employed or self employed, working in restaurants, hotels, fast food outlets, takeaways, cafes, bars, kitchens, catering in hospitals, schools and of course cake makers. It allows every catering business, regardless of size, to provide all staff with first class training.
Upon completion of this online training material learners will sit an online test and on successful completion, will receive a City & Guilds Accredited Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering meeting the legal training required, which must then be applied to work situations.
The training and test usually take between 2 to 3 hours to complete. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may re-sit the test at no extra cost, having revisited the training material.
